The Young Women in Nigerian Politics has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the redeployment of Ms. Delu Yakubu as the National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

The group’s appeal to President Tinubu to redeploy Ms.Yakubu comes on the heels of the suspension and arrest of the current National Coordinator of the Agency, Halima Shehu, by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering of over N30 billion in the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

In a statement on Friday by the President/Convener of Young Women in Nigerian Politics, Rejoice Salome Ishaku, recalled that Ms. Yakubu was the first candidate nominated by Mr. President to lead the Agency before she was later picked as the SSA

The statement added that she was screened by the National Assembly and even assumed the office, but for some reasons she was, instead, appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs.

“We are aware that Ms. Yakubu was the first candidate nominated by Mr. President to lead the Agency. She was screened by the National Assembly and even assumed the office but for some inexplicable reasons she was instead appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

“We are thankful to Mr. President for considering her as his SSA and we firmly believe that if he elevates her to head the NSIPA, she will add immense value to his Administration,” the statement read in part.
