Chairperson of the Referees Association in Cross River State Chapter, Mrs. Cecelia Ogbuji, has disclosed that all the referees that will officiate in the upcoming Governor Bassey Otu’s school games have undergone technical trainings.
It will be recalled that the special adviser on sports to the Cross River State governor, Hon Ekanem Ekpenyong met with all game masters and representatives from secondary schools mostly from Calabar South LGA and Calabar Municipality to chart ways of staging the tournament last week.
The referees’ chairman explained that the games masters of participating schools that the referees assigned to the competition went through rigorous training.
According to her, the training has shaped their capabilities towards ensuring fair play during the school games while encouraging the game masters not to give up during the competition and reminded them that red cards would be issued when necessary.
