Mrs. Rekhiat Momoh has announced her retirement from Eko Electricity Distribution Company (Eko DisCo) following the acquisition of a 60 per cent majority stake in the utility by Transgrid Consortium.

Her exit brings to a close a 33-year career at the company, spanning its transition from the former NEPA structure to a privatised and digitally driven distribution firm.

Momoh was confirmed as substantive Chief Executive Officer in November 2025. At the time, Board Chairman Oritsedere Otubu said her appointment followed consistent operational results and strong governance under her leadership.

During her tenure, Eko DisCo recorded significant reductions in Aggregate Technical, Commercial and Collection (ATC&C) losses through infrastructure upgrades and tighter revenue controls. The improvements strengthened the company’s financial position.

She also led the expansion of the National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP) across the Eko network, overseeing large-scale installation of smart meters to reduce estimated billing and improve transparency.

Under her leadership, the company implemented Band A service agreements for high-consumption areas, improving supply stability for industrial and residential clusters in Lagos.

Momoh played a key role in preparing the company for regulatory changes introduced by the Electricity Act 2023, positioning Eko DisCo to operate under both NERC and the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC).

In her farewell message to staff, Momoh thanked employees for their support and expressed confidence in the company’s future under new leadership.
