Religiously, every faithful Muslim believed that Islam had provides that opportunity to every man marry the maximum number of 4 wives as long as he can take care of them base on Islamic injection.  But the philosophies of most of our people in Hausa communities have gone beyond the religious injunction.
People marry while they have no means of providing for the family with the basic need and blaming Allah for whatever happened. I am not saying people in Hausa community should not marry until they are financially okay, no. It is only in this community you will see a man at the age of 28,30, to 34 having three wives but have no accommodation of his own and his business cannot sustain  his family status. If you ask they will tell you “Every mouth that God made has his food provided by God”.
This action in most cases lead some families to a situation where by children are on their own resisting the control or directives of the parents. Some even engage in social vices like drug abuse, prostitution, stealing, armed robbery etc. Because parents failed to make themselves responsible parents.
There is this story of a man who visited his relative and found out that the house his relative lives has no fence and no longer feed 3 square meals, he then gave the man N80,000 to make use of it in making business and to do something that will make his house good. After he left what the man did was to marry another woman.
We must look back and try by all means do what is good to us but is not contrary to our religions or beyond our socioeconomic status. No religion asked to do such without considering what will be right or wrong. Happy family is what Allah S.W.A wants for his people. Man is the engineer of his problem not Allah. Allah made everything easier to mankind.
