Katsina state Police Command has asked members of the public not to panic, but to be security conscious and to report any suspicious persons or group to the Police, or other security agencies deployed to check criminality in their places.
The spokesman of the command SP Gambo Isah who was reacting to a recent publication on people relocating to Niger Republic over spate of Kidnapping and banditry in the state, said the Command and in deed other sister security agencies are not unmindful of the security challenges being experienced especially along the border areas with Zamfara state.
According to him, the police has made special deployment from Force Headquarters to arrest the situation.
He said Special Task units from the force headquarters including Counter Terrorism Units (CTU), and additional Police Mobile Force Units (PMF) have been deployed to compliment the efforts of the existing security deployments in the affected areas.
“In addition, more superior fighting equipment have been procured including the deployment of Armoured Personnel vehicles in the prone areas” he said
“It is worthy to state that, last Sunday is the market day in Jibia and commercial activities are going on smoothly. Businessmen from all parts of Nigeriaand communities from Niger Republic were seen going about their lawful businesses” he said .
“Furthermore, Jibia and other neighbouring LGAs of Katsina state have been a safe haven for IDPs from Zamfara state. Jibia Local Government presently is accommodating over twenty business tycoons of Gurbi, Zamfara state who are conducting their business without any hitch” he added.
