Remembering Tatari Ali

The late Alhaji Abubakar Tatari Ali of blessed memory was the former Executive Governor and architect of modern Bauchi State, from 1979 to 1983.

The father of the late Tatari Ali, in the person of Ali Maishanu, was a man of strong and admirable character. A dedicated and honest personality, he was the (wakili) of Katagum- meaning, the representative of the emir or district of Katagum (malam Zaki) as it was then called.

Governor Tatari Ali built 500 units of houses for Ashaka cement workers named Ashaka workers village now in present day Gombe State, built the State secretariat and commissioner’s quarters Bauchi, constructed most of the township and major roads across the State.

Many legacies and achievements while in office remain a milestone and a watershed in the annals of old Bauchi State.

For the family of late Tatari Ali, his friends, political associates and entire people of Bauchi State, the best tribute they can pay for his generosity, years of enormous sacrifice and his selfless service to the people of Bauchi State, is to pray for him and to emulate his good works. He died on the 28 of May, 1993, I pray to ALLAH (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatil firdaus, Amin.
