At least 1,000 women petty traders in Zamfara state have benefitted from First Lady’s Oluremi Tinubu’s Renewed Hope initiative programme.

Each of the beneficiaries received a cash donation of N50,000 under the programme with a view to boosting their businesses.

The Renewed Hope Initiative is the First Lady’s pet project driven towards economic growth and better life for the women folks.

The programme targets women operators of Small and Medium Enterprises, especially women petty traders, who are considered to be the backbone of the economy.

Flagging-off of the programme in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara state, Mrs. Tinubu, who was represented by the Zamfara State First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, said 1,000 petty traders in each of the 36 states of the federation would benefit from the programme.

Mrs. Lawal explained that the initiative was aimed at empowering women petty traders with cash donation to boos their businesses.

“So far, a total of N1,850,000,000 (One Billion Eight Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) has been disbursed to thirty seven thousand women petty traders across the nation,” she said.

She reminded the beneficiaries that the business grant was provided to them in order to overcome some of the challenges affecting their businesses.

She, therefore, urged them to use the money judiciously, saying “by so doing , you will expand your businesses, thereby creating more jobs opportunities among women folks in Zamfara State.”
