The 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season promises an exciting kickoff as fixtures for the opening round have been officially released.
Defending champions Remo Stars will begin their title defense at home in a high-profile clash against former champions, Rivers United.
The fixtures were revealed during the league’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held yesterday in Abuja, with all 20 clubs in attendance.
Each team will play 38 matches — 19 home and 19 away — spread across 38 match weeks, with 10 games scheduled per round.

To ease crowd control and ensure security, the NPFL has staggered fixtures so that clubs from the same state don’t play home matches on the same weekend.
This scheduling strategy applies to clubs like Abia Warriors and Enyimba FC, as well as Kano Pillars and newly promoted Barau FC.
Both Remo Stars and Rivers United, who finished as champions and runners-up respectively, will represent Nigeria in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
Abia Warriors, making their continental debut, will host Kano Pillars in Ilorin — their temporary home ground.
Debutants Barau FC face a baptism of fire as they welcome nine-time champions Enyimba, while fellow newcomers Kun Khalifa travel to Enugu to take on former champions Rangers at the iconic Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Ikorodu City, looking to build on an impressive debut season, will face Kwara United in a closely watched encounter.
