Defending champions, Remo Stars, continued their impressive home run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a hard-fought 2–0 victory over Wikki Tourists MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta yesterday, in an encounter that came alive in the final 10 minutes.

After a cagey opening hour where both sides struggled to find the breakthrough, Adama Goita broke the deadlock in the 80th minute, converting an inch-perfect cross from Abubakar with a composed side-foot finish that left the Wikki defence flat-footed.

As Wikki pushed forward in search of an equaliser, the hosts sealed the win through Alex Oyowah, who capitalised on a goalkeeping blunder by Chizoba Okoh in the 90th minute. The Wikki goalkeeper spilled Chilekwu’s free kick, allowing Oyowah to tap home and double Remo Stars’ advantage.

The statistics reflected Remo Stars’ dominance, with 56% possession, 14 shots (7 on target), and 11 corners compared to Wikki’s 5 shots (1 on target) and 5 corners. Both teams finished without any dismissals, though the match saw a combined seven yellow cards.
