Remo Stars have moved into the second spot in Group A after defeating the whipping boys of the group, El-Kanemi Warriors 2-1 in yesterday’s Match Day 11 of the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Blue Sky who won just their second away game of the season started the game on a shaky note after Junior Lokosa was substituted due to an injury.

The hosts, El-Kanemi who have won only a game this season fought hard to snap their winless run but failed as Andy Okpe who came in for Lokosa put Remo in front in the 55th minute with a fine and composed finish.

With 10 minutes to the end of regulation time, captain of the side, Junior Nduka scored a free kick to double the lead to condemn Warriors to their 8th loss of the season as they remained rooted at the base of the group.

 However, in the second half added time, the hosts pulled one back for a more respectable scoreline.

In the other matches played, Akwa United held Group A leaders Bendel Insurance to a 1-1 draw while Shooting Stars defeated Plateau United 3-2 in Ibadan.

Hard fighting Nasarawa United failed to move out of relegation zone after forcing Enyimba to a 1-1 draw in Aba while Gombe United defeated Kwara United by a lone goal.

In Group B, Enugu Rangers fell 2-1 to the superior power of Abia Warriors just as Wikki Tourists succumbed to a 2-0 loss to Niger Tornadoes.

Doma United held Sunshine Stars to another 1-1 draw just as Dakkada and Bayelsa United equally played out another 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, the Head of operations of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), Davidson Owunmi has revealed that NPFL Super Six will be held in Lagos or Abuja.

Owunmi explained that the Super Six will take place in a state that doesn’t have an NPFL club.

The top three clubs in each group will battle for the trophy in the Super Six, and the bottom two in each group will return to the second tier, the Nigeria National League.
