The House of Representatives Committee on Tertiary Education and Services visited the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) recently, as part of their oversight function to all federal institutions in the nation.

The visit was led by the committee Chairman, Aminu Suleiman, who said that the visit is an obligation on the part of the National Assembly.

Aminu described their work as a call to patriotic duty and a national assignment, for which the Committee members have to sacrifice a lot of time and energy.

According to him, the primary purpose of their visit is to interact with management of the institutions and to ascertain their challenges and ensure that the funds released to them are utilized in accordance with the provisions of the law.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abdulahi Abdul Zuru, speaking on issues affecting the University, said the institution is very porous and vulnerable to insecurity due to lack of fence as well as need for hostel maintenance.
