The Member representing Gumi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi, in collaboration with the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), has launched the second phase of his peace and empowerment training programme for 400 youths.
The programme, according to a statement by Gumi’s media aide, Samuel Vincent, will benefit 200 youths from each local government area in his constituency.
Flagging off the second phase of the programme in Gummi and Bukkuyum local government areas on Saturday, January 30, where N2m disbursed to beneficiaries of the programme, Hon Gumi said the programme would help address the problem of unemployment, poverty and promote self-reliance among youths in his constituency, as well as complement the peace initiative of Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle.
He, therefore, charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the training and cautioned them not to look down at anything given to them.
He said, “Do not despise little beginnings; use your cash to start up something small and become self-reliant. We desire development, but meaningful development will come when we have peace. Let’s put to practice all that we will learn in the course of this training and this will ease the peace effort of our governor.”
