The Member representing Jos North/Bassa federal constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Haruna Maitala, has condemned the recent attacks and killings in villages of Bassa Local Government Area.
Benue Plateau Trust reported on February 4, how seven herders were killed and many cows were injured in Kwall District, while another four persons were killed in the Irigwe community on February 16, all in Bassa LGA.

Maitala described the attacks as barbaric and uncivilised, noting the recent killings occurred after the community had witnessed relative peace for some time. He noted that it confirmed the view held by many that some individuals were benefiting from the ungodly acts.
He called for calm and for security agencies to ensure that the culprits are arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
“There is no alternative to peace and no one has a monopoly of violence,’’ he said.
