Reps committee commends indorama mgt for transformation, expansion

The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources, Downstream has hailed Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited (IEPL), for their management transformation and expansion drive, describing it as a company of excellence.

Speaking when the committee led by its Chairman, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, visited the plant, the lawmakers praised Indoroma leadership for turning a moribund facility into a world class petrochemical plant that has created jobs, raised revenue and helping to generate forex for Nigeria, supporting agricultural & energy security.

Ugochinyere saluted the managerial capacity of the management team, saying that it’s immeasurable.

They also commended them for complying with principles guiding host community treatment which is key to peace & sustenance.

While condemning the increasing challenges with availability of raw materials for their work especially the insecurity affecting pipeline movement of gas to help their business, the committee called on Nigeria government to give more attention to the needs of these factories including giving them assets to manage to help them easily generate their raw materials.

Lauding the company for their ongoing expansion, the lawmakers assured of legislative support.

They said, “If we have transformational things like what Indoroma is doing, all over the place, there will be jobs, there will be a lot of things that the country will benefit from. Look at the investment and the support you’re giving to farmers in agriculture and so on

“So it’s transformation, and that is why we are urging the Federal government to put attention in this sector. Because if your factory is working, the other factory you’re supporting is going to be working. There are thousands of factories that benefit from your product, and they will be working.

“As parliamentarians whatever you want us to do, whatever support you need, we are willing to use the legislative instruments to support you for the overall benefit of our citizens.”
