The Chairman House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Eseme Eyiboh, (PDP, Akwa Ibom), who spoke to newsmen at the National Assembly yesterday, insisted that Bankole facilitated the completion of the project through legislative inputs such as budgetary allocations, and as such he ought to have been accorded some measure of respect.
Media reports yesterday quoted Daniel and Daggash as having made disparaging statements against Bankole during the commissioning of the bridge.
However, Eyiboh maintained that, the Ota bridge may have been initiated during the President Olusegun Obasanjo’s government, but why was it not completed and commissioned?
“There was an input from the parliament through the process of appropriation. Somebody must have influenced the provision of money for the completion of the bridge, and you can’t take that away. It was not done by the Ogun House of Assembly or by the governor of the state. It was done here by the House of Representatives, and you don’t need to speculate or consult an oracle on how that was done,” Eyiboh said.
