The member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Mr Umar Yakubu Barde, has supported over 200 women with N20,000 each as starter pack after they were trained on various skills.
Barde had organized a one-week vocational training for the participants in his constituency on various skills that include soap, cosmetics making and catering.
He said the training was to make them self-reliant, noting that human trafficking and prostitution cannot be tackled except women are empowered with skills and capital to embrace small businesses.
While urging the women to take advantage of the opportunity given to them, he assured that every woman in his constituency would benefit from his empowerment programme.
