The House of Representatives yesterday said it will pass the 27.5 trillion appropriation bill for the 2024 fiscal year on Saturday, December 30.
Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas (APC, Kaduna), who announced this at plenary, urged the lawmakers to ensure they are present for the passage of the bill and also show up for other proceedings in the assembly before the scheduled date.
“I want to inform you that the official day for the passage of the budget is Saturday, 30th December 2023; between this period, all other things like compilation and processing of the bills will take place.
“So please take note; those of you who want to go for Christmas, 30th December is the official date for budget passage,” he said.

Daily Trust reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had presented the budget estimate of N27.5trn to the National Assembly on November 29, 2023, calling for an accelerated consideration and passage to meet the January to December budget cycle.
The joint Committee on Appropriation of the National Assembly on Monday issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the submission of committee reports on the 2024 budget.
Speaker Abbas at plenary informed members that the committee on appropriation has asked all sub-committees to submit their reports on the 2024 budget estimates by 8 pm yesterday.
