The representatives, who included Ishaku Shara, Musa Fatahi, Elizabeth Ogbuja and Dr Oluwole Olakinde, made the call while in Maiduguri for an advocacy visit to the Borno State House of Assembly.
The chairman of the committee, Alaba Lad-Ojoma who led the members, appealed to the Speaker, Borno Assembly, Goni Ali Modu to initiate a law that would facilitate the participation of civil servants in the state in the health insurance scheme maintaining that such law could be enacted through a collaboration with the executives of the two tiers of government.
The chairman noted that the insurance scheme made it possible for workers to have access to quality and affordable health care.
The Speaker of the Borno State Assembly, Goni Ali Modu told the visiting House of Representative members that the House was satisfied with their advocacy and would act accordingly to ensure the state’s participation in the health insurance scheme. He said the members agreed with the house members that the scheme, if adopted in the state and local government of would go a long way in enhancing access to quality and affordable health care for citizens in the state.
