A woman recently rescued from kidnappers has given birth to twin girls at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Kogi State.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
He said the identity of the mother is being withheld for security reasons.
Fanwo said Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed the State Security Adviser and the Commissioner for Health to ensure the immediate transfer of the mother and her newborns to the State Specialist Hospital for comprehensive medical attention and postnatal care.
He said both the mother and her babies are in stable condition and receiving adequate care.
He recalled that the state government established the IDP camp as a temporary rehabilitation centre for victims rescued from kidnappers and other criminal elements.
The facility provides medical care, counselling and other forms of support before victims are reunited with their families.
Fanwo noted that ongoing security operations across the state have led to an increase in the number of rescued victims at the camp.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting victims and strengthening security operations.
He also commended security operatives for their sustained efforts in tackling criminal activities in the state.
