Dr Aina who spoke with newsmen in Iresi, Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State lamented that past Nigerian leaders should be blamed for the country’s economic woes for depending solely on petroleum as the major source of its economy.
He noted that agriculture was a viable source of foreign exchange, adding that the resources generated from agriculture if properly developed were enough to cater for the economic needs of the country.
He noted that Nigeria is today the largest producer of cassava in the whole world, and that the country is rated high before the international community in the area of cassava production.
Dr Aina said the resources from cassava if well developed could cater for the needs of the nation with or without petroleum, saying the nation should return to agriculture and practice it at commercial level for the good of all and sundry.
While calling for the total overhauling of the agricultural sector for the benefit of all, he maintained that agriculture should be made lucrative so as to entice the overwhelming Nigerian youths.
