The death of the former governor of Kano State, Dr Abubakar Rimi, has become a money spinning business in Kano as businessmen print his posters for sale in large quantities. Findings by Pyramid Trust revealed that many people are acquiring the deceased’s posters which are being marketed by vendors.
A vendor at the residence of the deceased, Abdullahi Abubakar, said he had never sold posters but ventured into the business because of the way people were buying the posters. According to him the late politician’s posters were an easy sale, “a copy of the poster is sold at N30 and late Rimi’s admirers have been trooping to buy,” he said, adding that he sold 120 copies in a day.
Another vendor, Isa Baberiya, who spoke to our correspondent, said he has sold up to 400 posters of Rimi in one day. According to him, the only poster that had generated high sales was that of the late General Sani Abacha. He attributed the reason to Rimi’s popularity which he said was unmatched by any other public figure in the state.
