Residents of Geoffrey Street, near  Assembly Quarters, in Azikoro community  in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have carried out remedial work on their once impassable road.  

The remedial work, which was part of the community’s development service, was championed by the Leader of Unified Non-Indigenes living in Bayelsa State, Chief Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa, is to ensure that people living in the area have access to their homes and curtail the effects of flooding of the area during the rainy season.  

According to the residents, the road used to be impassable every rainy season. 

When Niger Delta Trust correspondent visited the area, most of the residents, including youth and women, were seen with various implements working on the road. 

Speaking with Niger Delta Trust Arthur-Ugwa, said they were already done with the first and second phases of the road repairs. 

He said the plan was to use concrete on the road during the third phase of the repairs to put a permanent solution to flooding in the area.  

He urged the citizens and residents of the area not to always wait for the government to provide everything but contribute their own little quota to the development of the society.
