As Abuja marks 40 years of creation as Nigeria’s federal capital, some residents of the territory have called on the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to intensify activities aimed at improving the infrastructure within the territory.
Salihu Abubakar, a resident of Byazhin, a suburb of Kubwa in the FCT, commented on the recent revival of operations of street lights in the city and said 90 per cent of the street lights within and outside were now fully operational.
He commended the effort of FCDA’s Executive Secretary, Engr. Adamu Ismaila, who he said, had been working assiduously since assumption of office in 2011 to provide basic infrastructure for the territory and was making a huge success.
“The prevailing situation is better than what was obtainable earlier. Blocked drainage’s air vent are being reopened and lots of intervention services just to maintain the standard as federal capital”, Abubakar said.
Also speaking,  Ikenna Okey, a resident of Lugbe, Abuja, also said if residents in the suburbs and satellite towns were given the required attention by providing the necessary infrastructure, most of them would not be struggling to remain in the city centre.
