The resumption of construction work on the Dutsen-Alhaji-Bwari Road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has given motorists respite as they previously complained over its abandonment.

People who ply the road expressed satisfaction about the ongoing expansion, saying the fast pace of work had brought relief to both motorists and commuters.

Yakubu Salihu, a filling station attendant, explained that all the inconveniences and the traffic jam caused by the delay on the project were now things of the past.

Salihi said, “We experienced a lot of challenges, starting from dusty atmospheres to losing customers, as motorists were finding it difficult to come to our premises.”

Gideon Joseph, a truck driver, commended the government’s decision to include an old portion of the road which was pulled off recently.

Joseph said, “Initially, we thought that the old portion would not be removed and rehabilitated, which could affect the quality of the project. But our fear is now being allayed with what we have seen.”

The road, which is an alternative route for travellers to Kaduna through Jere Town, records high volume of traffic.
