The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released results of seven out of 16 local government areas for the Saturday’s governorship election held in Taraba State.

According to the results, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan polled votes of 128,782 in the seven LGs; PDP’s Darius Ishaku polled 120, 034 votes while SDP candidate, David Sabo Kente polled 4,409 votes so far.

Breakdown of the results include Jalingo (APC-37714; PDP-19047; SDP-1282); Ardo Kola (APC-13,042; PDP-14,041; SDP-662); Lau (APC-13,096; PDP-20,598; SDP-613) and Gassol (APC-42888; PDP-12527; SDP-827)

Others include Zing (APC-5,224; PDP-28,005; SDP-675); Yorro (APC-6,936; PDP-18,696; SDP-290) and Gashaka (APC-9,882; APC-7,120; SDP-60)

Meanwhile, results for the remaining nine local government areas are still being awaited at the INEC collation centre.

The affected local government areas include Wukari, Takum, Donga, Ussa, Ibi, Sardauna, Karim-Lamido, Bali and Kurmi.

Our correspondent reports that security has been beefed up in Jalingo, the state capital as the results collations got underway.
