As food prices soar and climate shocks deepen across Africa, Sahel Consulting is challenging Nigeria to rethink how it feeds its people.
Stakeholders at the Sahel’s 2025 conference with the theme “Designing for Legacy: Building Resilient and Impact-Driven Food Systems,” specifically discussed sustainable solutions to food insecurity and spotlighted collaborative strategies that will transform agriculture into a driver of national prosperity and global competitiveness.
Speaking at the event, Temitope Adegoroye, the Managing Partner of Sahel Consulting, urged participants to look beyond short-term interventions and funding cycles toward building food systems that last.
He said, “True impact is not measured by how much we spend, but by what endures—by the systems, people, and institutions that remain standing long after the spotlight fades.”
Temitope outlined Sahel’s success stories across the dairy, seed, and horticulture sectors, from reaching over 63,000 farmers to fostering market-driven resilience and empowering women through agricultural innovation.
Temitope said, “Designing for legacy means embedding sustainability from the start, creating programs that are market-aligned, institutionally anchored, and community-driven. Legacy is not built by one organization or one funder. It is built by all of us. Too often, sustainability is treated as an exit strategy; meaningful progress will depend on local ownership of agricultural systems.”
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, commended Sahel Consulting for its continued contribution to Nigeria’s agricultural growth and private-sector engagement.
