Speaking in Ado-Ekiti at the official launch of the maiden edition of annual 2014 calendar of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ekiti State chapter, Akinyemi said without giving pride of place to agriculture, other major sectors would suffer.
He called for encouragement and support for farmers, saying without that the nation would lag behind others.
In his remarks, the state Chairman of AFAN, MrAdemolaOkeya, said his team would fulfil all promises made while canvassing support to come to office.
He appealed to research institutes and universities to assist farmers with modern methods.
