We, as a people used to have very strong moral values. We cared about one another and took our cultural values seriously. But these days, it appears we have thrown all those things that made us unique to the dustbin. In our quest to copy the Western world, we seem to be loosing ourselves and that is not good for us. In the past, human lives mattered a great deal and that was why we did not have frequent reports of killings across the country. But today, the reverse is the case.

Once you open the newspapers, you are faced with photographs of people who have been murdered for one reason or the other. Divorce which used to be very rare in our society has also become the order of the day. Some marriages now last for less than three months. Indecency is no longer frowned at.  All these are alien to our society and culture and we must do something about it. We should revive all those things that helped to check bad behaviour in our society. Parents, traditional and religious leaders should rise to the challenge of bringing back the Nigeria that we once had. We need to love one another as doing that will reduce the spate of killings across the country. We should all note that doing good pays and that there is punishment for evil.
