A Federal High Court in Yola, Adamawa State, yesterday refused to entertain hearing in a case brought before it by an Adamawa State governorship aspirant, Nuhu Ribadu, against the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), and adjourned to June 29.

The Judge, Justice Abdulaziz Anka, insisted that he would not hear Ribadu’s application unless the female candidate was properly served.

Binani had on May 26, emerged the party’s governorship candidate in the state having defeated Ribadu and four others at the party’s primary.

Ribadu, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who alleged over-voting, had sued the APC, Binani and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), praying the court to direct the APC to conduct a fresh primary.

But Justice Anka ordered Ribadu to put Binani on notice, saying fairness demanded that she be aware of the application against her.

Ribadu is seeking among others: “A declaration that the primary election conducted by the 1st defendant for the governorship of Adamawa State on the 26th May, 2022, was vitiated by over-voting. Therefore, the 2nd defendant did not score the majority of valid votes cast during the said election.”
