The Rice Farmer Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) says the appointment of professor Ibrahim Gambari is laudable and will help drive the nation’s food security target.
The national president of the association Alhaji Aminu Goronyo, in a statement issued in Abuja, thursday, expressed hope that the new Chief of Staff to the President will bring his wealth of experience to bear to ensure growth and development in the country’s agricultural sector.
He said “We are confident that you (Gambari) will build on the achievement of the president towards ensuring that Nigeria remains food secured; especially self-sufficiency in Rice production.”
The association hope that the appointment of Professor Gambari as a worthy and experienced administrator will drive President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to good governance and agro-based economy.
“RIFAN enjoyed the cordial relationship with late chief of staff Abba Kyari who contributed largely to the development of agriculture under this administration, we are ready to work with Professor Gambari, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and that of water resources towards ensuring that Nigeria becomes among major exporters of Rice,” the statement reads.
