The chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Abuja (Unity) Branch, Agada Elachi Ficmc, has expressed disappointment at the rise in petitions brought against lawyers since his assumption of office.
Elachi, addressing the Unity Bar AGM last Friday, described the situation as ‘very sad’, adding that the NBA may be forced to raise a disciplinary committee to deal with the volume of petitions. 
He said: “Since assumption we have received on the average one petition a week. On account of the volume of petitions we have constituted four disciplinary committees and at the current rate may be forced to set up a fifth panel.”
The chairman, in the effort to redeem the image of lawyers in the public’s eye, called on lawyers to abide by professional conduct at all times, including the privacy of their own homes.
