The APC in the state has gone to the election tribunal to challenge the outcome of April 11 governorship election that saw PDP’s Nysom Wike declared the winner. The party, in a statement yesterday, signed by its chairman, Dr Davis Ikanya, expressed shock that Rivers INEC could bar the party from accessing the commission’s premises to photocopy results sheets in preparation for the party’s appearance at the tribunal.
The statement said: “We are shocked that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State, under the watch of Mrs. Khan, could bar our party agents from accessing INEC premises to photocopy result sheets for the purported elections in preparation for the party’s appearance at the election petition tribunal.
“This woman’s hatred for APC and for truth and justice is unfathomable and deserves strong condemnation by all lovers of truth, justice and credible elections.”   It added that APC agent has written to the resident electoral commissioner shortly after INEC announced  the winner of the election, requesting for the voter registers, materials distribution forms E25A, query log for accredited voters, and result sheets for all the 23 local government areas of the State.
The statement said the commission has refused to grant the party access to all it needed to pursue its case at the tribunal.
