Rivers State House of Assembly Complex
The Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday confirmed five commissioner nominees and rejected four others.
Those confirmed by the Assembly are Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Prof. Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.
However, the lawmakers declined to confirm four nominees — Prof. Datonye Alasia, Mrs. Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams and Otonye TKD Amachree.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara had a few weeks ago forwarded the names of nine nominees to the House for screening and confirmation following the dissolution of the state executive council.
The nominations came after a peace deal brokered by President Bola Tinubu to address the prolonged political crisis in the state.
