Ethnic youth leaders have accused Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of igniting political crisis that will inflame the economic crisis facing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and crash the renewed hope agenda .

According to the youth leaders, that was the grand plan Wike has that he is bent on throwing Rivers State in anarchy, chaos and public disorder and not just for the sole aim of destabilising Governor Siminialayi Fubara.

The Ethnic Youths Leaders in a statement signed by kabiru Yusuf, said unknown to President Tinubu, the former Rivers Governor does not mean well for his administration but he only supported him just to stop former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who defeated him at the 2022 presidential primaries of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

They said Rivers, being the treasure base of the nation, contributing substantially to the national coffers, Wike intends to plunge it into political crisis such that it will no longer be conducive for exploration and other oil producing activities by multinationals and bring the country down.

“It is a matter of fact that more than 40% of Nigeria’s output of crude oil and gas resources are produced in Rivers state. And oil remain the bedrock of the Nigerian economy and crude oil accounts for 80 percent of Nigeria’s export, a significant proportion of our foreign exchange earnings and government revenue.

“The 2024 budget estimates that the oil sector will contribute 42 percent to government revenue. Then a state with the huge deposit of oil and home to many multinational oil companies is being forced into political crisis.

“If that is not nip into the bud and it degenerate, President Tinubu would face the worst economic crisis of his administration more than what presently obtains. Also in an event of general anarchy, the available meager resources would be deployed to quelling the crisis and rebuilding what might be destroyed.

“That is all what Wike wants since he left office and despite being appointed Minister of the FCT, his major preoccupation is to ensure that Rivers State is political turn oil. If he is not instigating the impeachment of Governor Fubara, he is beating the drums of war though inciting comments. He is also sponsoring some former loyalists in the State House of Assembly to perpetrate other illegalities to frustrate and provoke the state government and other law abiding leaders and citizens of Rivers State so that when they react, political crisis will breaks out and there will be breakdown of law and order which can lead to massive unrest that can collapse democracy.”
