Rivers senator quits PDP for APC

The senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, Ipalibo Banigo, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter read during the Senate plenary on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the senator attributed her decision to the protracted division within her former party.

Reading the letter, Akpabio noted that Banigo also cited her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” as well as the leadership of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking after her defection, Sen Banigo said President Tinubu deserves “all our support” to ensure the success of his administration’s reforms.
