Nigeria’s only surviving club in the continent, Rivers United will know their opponents in the quarter-final of the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup on Tuesday, March 12 in Cairo. Last Sunday, the Nigerian representatives fought back to defeat neighbours Dreams FC of Ghana 2-1 in Uyo to reach the last eight of the CAF inter-clubs competition.

Although Rivers United went behind just before the first half break, two second half goals by Deputy Echeta and Kazie Enyinanya in stoppage time gave the ‘Pride of Rivers’ the much desired win.

Despite the victory, Rivers United have APC Lobito of Angola who against all odds played a 1-1 draw with Club Africain of Tunisia to thank for their progress in the money spinning league.

The draw will be conducted in Cairo, Egypt starting with CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League.
