The Kebbi state government has commenced verification and payment of compensation to land owners to ensure completion of road projects in Zuru local government area.
Alhaji Salihu Dan-kano, the chairman of the verification committee, told newsmen in Zuru on Monday that owners of residential buildings, shops and lands would be compensated.
He said the total amount involved in the payment of the compensation was yet to be determined.
He however explained that records with the Ministry of Lands and Housing would be used in paying the compensation.
The chairman called on the people of the area to cooperate with the committee to ensure smooth completion of the exercise.
He assured that payment would be strictly based on earlier findings by the ministry of lands and housing.
NAN learnt that N963.9 million would be spent on the rehabilitation of 14 kilometres township roads in Zuru while the construction of Dabai to Zuru road would cost of N263.5 million.
A cross section of residents of the area described the payment of compensation and commencement of rehabilitation and construction of the road projects as a relief.
They said the projects would boost social and economic activities in the area.
