Operatives of the Ogun Police Command have arrested one Abiodun Makinde, a suspected member of a one- chance gang, who allegedly robbed two ladies of their valuables and subsequently pushed them out of a moving vehicle along Sango/Owode/ Idiroko road.

Our correspondent gathered that Makinde was arrested following an alarm by the victims, Gloria Edoh and Saidat Akinola.  It was further gathered that the suspect is a member of a one-chance robbery syndicate terrorizing commuters in the area.

The victims told policemen that they took a cab from Owode to Sango, and on getting to Olokopupo area of Atan ota, “two men they met in the car suddenly brought out knives and other dangerous weapons with which they forced them to surrender their belongings.”

The suspects were said to have collected about N500,000 cash and phones from the victims before pushing them out of the moving car.

It was further gathered that the victims sustained injuries and went to the hospital for treatment and on their way back they sighted and identified Makinde, as one of the hoodlums who robbed them and subsequently raised alarm.

A statement by the police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the alarm raised by the victims caught the attention of the DPO of Atan Ota, Abiodun Salau, who was on routine patrol of the area.

According to him, Salau then led his men to the scene but that when he got there he discovered that members of the public had already arrested the suspect.

“On getting to the station, one woman who had earlier complained of a similar incident identified the suspect as one of the hoodlums who robbed and raped her on the 12th of September and made away with her pant.

“The suspect has confessed to participating in the two robbery incidents,” Oyeyemi said.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for further investigation.
