‎Two‎ commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada riders, were on Monday killed by suspected armed robbers at a filling station in Kaduna.

The two victims were killed by their attackers at Usmania Filling Station located along Nnamdi Azikiwe Express Way, Kaduna.

The incident reportedly happened around 3:45am when the suspected robbers stormed the filling station where the victims along with others were passing the night.

The robbers were said to have robbed the victims of their phones and money before killing two of them.

One of the victims who survived the attacks, Rayyanu Yahaya of Dawakin Tofa, narrated how he was dispossessed of his phones and money by the robbers.

“We were all sleeping when they came into the filling station armed with weapons such as knives and guns.

“They asked me to hand over my phones and the money in my pocket which I did without saying a word. One of them hit me on the face and ordered me to lay down on the floor.

“They did same to the victims who are commercial motorcycle operators who used to stay with us each time they come to town. One of them was shot for attempting to run while the other one was stabbed to death for screaming,” he said.

Daily Trust gathered that the robbers also took away a motorcycle belonging to one of the slain victims.

The owner of the filling station, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Sharif, said they have informed the police about the incident.

“I got the information after morning prayer and rushed down to the station where I saw and confirmed they were both death, “ he said.

When contacted, the police spokesman, DSP Yakubu Sabo confirmed the incident and said though there was no distress call to the police in the area.

He said the people reported the incident to police around 6 am. “ So we are investigating the issue to ascertain the motives behind the killings and to possibly arrest the suspects.‎ So yes two were killed. I will keep updating you,” he said.
