The Katsina State Police Command says one of the seven armed robbers that attacked the manager of a filling station in Funtua was dressed in army uniform.

The command spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah, said the robbers on December 24 stormed the house of one Alhaji Abubakar Isah, the manager of Abdulsalam Global Petroleum, with intent to kidnap him but was lucky to have alerted the police on time and escaped scaling the fence. 

He said the hoodlums who were armed with AK 47 rifles must have had information that Alhaji Isah’s filling station was the only one that had fuel in Funtua that day and sold fuel up to the late hours. 

“However, the police team led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Jibrin Moh’d, arrived the scene on time and engaged the armed robbers in a gun duel were the DPO sustained gun shot on his left wrist,” he said.

He said while Moh’d is responding to treatment at the hospital, a manhunt has been launched to arrest the seven suspected armed robbers behind the shooting.

Already,  they have mobilised police patrol teams, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and Police mobile force (PMF) units to comb the area with a view to arresting the fleeing armed robbers.
