A gang of suspected armed robbers who allegedly wore police vests, last Friday evening, attacked a petrol station at Tunga Maje village, along Giri-Zuba expressway.
A resident of the community, who preferred anonymity, yesterday, said that the incident happened at about 5:43p.m.
He said that about 11 robbers donning  police bullet proof jackets drove into the filling station in an unmarked Toyota Hilux van.
He said that some of the robbers positioned themselves outside the station while three others unsuccesfully attempted to gain entrance into the manager’s office.
The robbers, who pretended to be men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on patrol, wielded sophisticated weapons and collected money from pump attendants, he said.
Our reporter gathered that the robbers operated for nearly an hour.
Efforts to reach the new Zuba Divisional Police Officer, CSP Eze  Nwokeneme, were not successful.
When contacted, the FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Anjugiri Manza, said he was not aware of the incident and promised to find out from the Zuba DPO and get back to our reporter later in the day, but he never did.
