Armed robbers invaded the Federal Psychiatric hospital on Calabar Road yesterday morning and killed, at least, two mentally deranged patients.

The robbers also stole valuables, including laptops and handsets worth several thousands of naira belonging to patients and medical personnel.

Police PRO, Irene Ugbo, said they were yet to be briefed about the situation but that they had launched investigation.

According to staff of the hospital and other eye witnesses spoken to, the armed robbers might have targeted the fuel station inside the hospital.

“Their target was the Fuel station. We are yet to confirm if the two persons killed are actually our patients or customers at the fuel station”, a staff who pleaded to remain anonymous, said.

Management of the hospital refused to speak to reporters until they were given directive.
