Robbers’ siege of Kado

On the 21st of August a nine-man armed gang stormed the newly opened NNPC/JUDA Oil filling station at about 2am. According to an anonymous report from a vigilante who wit-nessed the operation he stated that he called the FCT Police Control which despatched response vehicle ACCOS 49 to the petrol station. On the arrival of the team barely an hour after the operation the security operative at the filling station refused to grant access to the police saying until the Managing Director arrived.
On Saturday 14th September at about 9.00pm a group of armed bandits trailed a lawyer resident of the layout, while he awaited his gateman to open the gate they stepped him down from the vehicle at gunpoint and drove off with the vehicle.
Few days earlier one of the vigilantes was attacked by two armed men whom he accosted and he narrowly escaped death but not without a stab wound on the head.
The government should quickly do something about this development because the residents now live in constant fear.
The Mabushi police station does not appear to have a functional vehicle. The FCT police to provide additional vehicles and personnel to patrol the area, as it is susceptible to robbers’ invasion.
The spate of insecurity especially burglary has increased at an alarming rate in FCT.
The Department of Urban Affairs should also assist with infrastructure development since the area does not have good road network and a functional transformer as a result it keeps the neighbourhood in permanent darkness.
