A robbery kingpin believed to have been terrorizing residents of Nsit-Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and its environs for several years has been arrested through the combined efforts of a vigilante group and the police, Daily Trust gathered.
Udo Felix who hails from Abak Local Government Area of the state is alleged to be a member a robbery syndicate that specializes in kidnapping, snatching of cars and breaking into homes to dispossess victims of their property.
He was arrested at the weekend and handed over to the police commissioner, Gabriel Achong.
Other members of the syndicate, it was gathered, are still at large and are being trailed by the police.
Speaking during the hand-over ceremony at the command headquarters at Ikot Akpanabia, Uyo, the transition committee chairman of the Nsit-Ubium Local Government, Oto Edemidiong, commended members of the group and the police for the arrest.
He said the gang which operated between Cross River and Akwa Ibom State recently snatched a car from a pastor.
