An armed robbery suspect, Segun Kazeem, who the police described as a notorious criminal, has been arrested while allegedly snatching a Permanent Voters Card (PVC) machine from some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Daily Trust learnt that Kazeem, said to be famously known in the underworld as ‘No Case’, has been on the Lagos State police command’s wanted list for a long time for various criminal activities in the Ejigbo, Isolo, Ladipo and Mushin areas of the state.
It was gathered that Kazeem’s arrest at the weekend followed the arrest of one Femi Kazeem, who had penultimate Monday allegedly attemped to rob an unnamed lady at Ejigbo.
The police said Femi’s confessional statement opened up investigations into the modus operandi of Kazeem and his gang.
Based on Femi’s statement, a team of policemen from Ejigbo, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Olabisi Okuwobi, tracked the suspect to a school, where he was allegedly attempting to snatch a PVC machine.
A search conducted by the police at the residence of Kazeem, also described as leader of the deadly Eiye confraternity, led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size gun and many rounds of ammunition.
“The suspect had the effrontery of telling the DPO that he (DPO) was fighting a lost battle, boasting his sponsors would soon secure his release,” a police source said.
