Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested an armed robbery suspect, identified as 24-year-old Moses Tejiri, who allegedly specialises in terrorising the Ughelli community and its environs.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Edafe Bright, said the suspect was a member of an armed robbery syndicate operating within the Ughelli area of Delta State.
Acting on credible intelligence, he said police operatives launched a coordinated raid on a criminal hideout in the Otorwhodo area of Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The operation, he added, led to the arrest of Tejiri, while other members of the gang managed to escape by scaling surrounding fences upon sighting the police.
Bright said a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of one Dane gun, 10 rounds of live cartridges, two locally fabricated Beretta pistols and 11 rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
