The houses which are said to be affordable are for public and private sector workers across Nigeria.
The scheme which is jointly run by Rock of Ages Properties Limited and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) promises 100,000 housing units in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
So far, in Abuja, the company said 20,000 housing units are being developed in Lugbe and Dei-dei.
Products include private homes ranging from two-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom fully detached duplexes.
Prices are between N7.5 million and N45 million and can be paid through mortgage options.
Assistant General Manager, Rock of Ages Properties Limited Mr Haford Udochukwu said all survey work and documentation processes have been completed assuring that the titles are genuine and free of encumbrances.  
Matilukuro Oluwakorede who is chairman Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA)/ Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) tasked the company to take another look at its charges to adequately accommodate civil servants in the scheme.
He said by his calculation, a civil servant on Grade Level 8 will be able to save only N6.5 million in 20 years.
“You have to know the background of the people you’re targeting,” Oluwakorede advised.
He said for this project to be meaningful to workers, the developer should reach out to government to make government bring matching funds to cushion the yoke workers will have to bear.
He challenged the developer to disclose its maintenance charges pointing out that some developers take huge charges as facility management fees.
Executive Director, Chicason Group, Mr Adike Chux assured, “We want to give credibility to the real estate development…” stressing that his company is reputable and has investments across the globe.
