A representative of Rotary Club of Abuja, Garki Neighbourhood, Charter President Michael Olaniyi Oye Oyewo, has assured that the organisation will not relent in its commitment to make the world a peaceful place for humanity.

Oyewo, who stated this at an event organized by Mediation, Peace and Vocational Training Initiatives (MPVTI), in Abuja, said as clear demonstration of their peaceful approach to resolving conflict ‘‘we (club members) don’t go to court when there is a disagreement with each other,’’ adding that if a Rotarian takes another member to court that person will be expelled.

Hence, he said, the club remains a leading promoter of mediation as a means to conflict resolution.

International Day of Peace, first celebrated in 1981 is a United Nations-sanctioned holiday observed annually. The event is dedicated to a world occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in combat zone for humanitarian aid access, and specifically the absence of war and violence.
