Speaking on the occasion of his five-day visit to Rotary Club in Ibadan, as part of his on-going familiarization visits to Rotary Clubs nationwide, Rotarian Kazeem charged Nigerian politicians to place priority on qualitative service delivery for the much-talked Vision 20:2020 to become a reality.
According to him, the 4-way test and objectives of the Rotary International had succeeded tremendously in preparing members to render selfless service to the people, explaining that members were volunteers who sacrificed their time and resources to serve the people. This, he emphasised would be a plus for members who are politicians.
He declared: ‘’My sincere advice to our politicians is that they should become members of Rotary International. By becoming members, they will imbibe the core values of the club which emphasise integrity, excellence, transparency and also upholds high ethical standards in whatever one does.’’
The Rotary chieftain condemned the level of poverty in Nigeria as he observed that the nation’s teeming youths roamed the streets in search of non-existent jobs, a development which he said “should be a source of concern to the President and the 36 governors if the Vision 20: 2020 would be a reality.”
He then spoke on the objective of his visitation to Ibadan explaining that, ‘’As the eye of the Rotary International in the district, it is my statutory duty to interact with the clubs with a view to looking at their activities and review all other humanitarian projects they are doing for the good of our society.’’
In a related development, the Rotary Club of Ibadan-Akobo, which was inaugurated four months, ago, donated a 2.7KVA generating set and sets of office furniture to the Nigeria Police Divisional Headquarter, Akobo, Ibadan.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony of the equipments, the Charter President of the Rotary Club Ibadan-Akobo, Rotarian Abiola Ogunbanwo said the donation was in realisation of the working project proposal of the club.
He stated that the club was concerned about the security of lives and properties of the inhabitants in the area hence the donation which would go a long way in helping the officers of the command to do more in the task of policing the area.
