Rotary club donates N20m family planning kit
Rotary donates N20m worth of IUDs to 10 Bayelsa health centres in efforts to encourage family planning and birth control.
The Rotary International has donated intra-uterine device (IUD) contraceptive kits worth N20 million to 10 health centres in Bayelsa State as part of its efforts to encourage family planning and birth control.
Presenting the kit to the Ministry of Health on Saturday, the state representative of Rotary Club on Maternal and Child Health (MCH) project, Mr. Praise Uzondu, said Rotary International has been implementing MCH project since 1994.

Uzondu explained that the project stands on four pillars which include: Public Awareness Campaign through Community Dialogues; Capacity Building through training of medical and paramedical staff as well as Institutional Strengthening through equipment donations to medical facilities.
He pointed out that the Federal Ministry of Health in Nigeria gave a mandate through collaborative efforts with Rotary International to support reduction of maternal and prenatal morbidity and mortality through a long-standing commitment to improving the health of its population.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the state government, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Pabara Egwele, thanked Rotary International for the gesture, noting that it would boost and improve health care delivery system in the state.
